Blind spots around construction equipment—especially those directly behind the equipment—are a leading cause of struck-by injuries and fatalities. New technologies have been developed to detect workers behind vehicles and equipment. When used in conjunction with a signaller, these systems can help protect workers from being struck by reversing vehicles. This advisory provides brief descriptions of a few of these systems and outlines some of their benefits and as well as their limitations. 2 pages.
