Program Description
This hands–on program offers field vestibule training to provide an opportunity for apprentices to acquire the knowledge and understanding of safe work practices of the powerline worker trade. It allows the employer an opportunity to have a formal assessment of the employee’s potential to enter Level One of the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development (MLITSD) Powerline Technician Apprentice Program.

Basic hydraulics/aerial device/RBD daily checks

Conductor weights and tensions

Who Should Attend?
Those wishing to enter the lines apprenticeship program.
Prerequisites
There are no prerequisites for this course.
Personal protective equipment / What to bring
Participants are required to bring their own CSA-approved head and eye protection, work gloves, suitable work clothing, all climbing equipment and hand tools (belt and spurs), approved fall arrest system (harness and shock absorbing lanyard), and approved fall restrict system (for climbing wood poles). Attendees will not be permitted to participate in the course if they do not bring the noted personal protective equipment and tools.
Learning Evaluation
There is a final knowledge evaluation at the completion of the course.
Participant Course Evaluation
At the end of the training, participants will have the opportunity to evaluate and provide comments about the training they received.
