Program Description

In Ontario, lift truck incidents continue to injure and take the lives of operators and other workers. To stop these injuries and fatalities from occurring, we need to understand why they happen and, more importantly, how to prevent them.

The purpose of the Lift Truck Operator (LTO) Safety Training program is to help Ontario workplaces and construction projects reduce and eliminate injuries and illnesses related to lift truck operations.

The training in this program is theory-based only. The employer is responsible for:

• Providing additional training and evaluation on workplace-specific equipment and approved attachments
• Ensuring that proper maintenance, repair, and inspection procedures are developed and enforced regularly
• Maintaining continual safety supervision.

Program Content

Who Should Attend?

Lift truck operators, supervisors, and health and safety committee members or representatives.

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites for this course.

Learning Evaluation

A certificate of completion for this program will be issued to participants who achieve 75% on a final multiple-choice knowledge evaluation.

Participant Course Evaluation

At the end of the training, participants will have the opportunity to evaluate and provide comments about the training they received.
