Program Description

This IHSA course is hands-on

This course provides safe working knowledge for workers who handle ladders. It includes classroom and field work.

Program Content

  • Interpretation of relevant regulations and the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Review of Canada Labour Code Part II
  • Review of IHSA’s Telecommunications Utility Safety Rules
  • Review of IHSA’s Ladder Safety Safe Practice Guide
  • Ladder set-up
  • Transportation and storage of ladders
  • Ladder inspection and maintenance
  • Review of injuries resulting from work on ladders
  • Work area protection

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites for this course.

Who Should Attend?

Personnel who use ladders.

Important Notice

Delivery of this program at your facility will require a suitable space to complete the practical portion of the program as well as the required equipment. Please check with your IHSA Consultant/Trainer for specific requirements.

Personal Protective Equipment

Participants are required to bring their own CSA-head, foot, and eye protection, leather gloves, and traffic vest. Attendees will not be permitted to participate in the course if they do not bring the noted personal protective equipment and clothing.

Learning Evaluation

There is a final knowledge evaluation at the completion of the course.

Participant Course Evaluation

At the end of the training, participants will have the opportunity to evaluate and provide comments about the training they received.
