Program Description
This course is geared to anyone who uses a computer. The course consists of a classroom and hands-on portion at the participant’s workstation and thus is delivered at your facility. The maximum number of attendees per session is 12.
The classroom portion is delivered in an electronic presentation format, where participants will be provided with tools to help them apply the information.
The hands-on portion provides participants the opportunity to practice setting up their workstations to optimize postures and safe work practices to reduce MSD hazards with the help of the instructor.

Understand musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) and how they develop

Report MSD signs and symptoms early

Recognize MSD hazards at my computer workstation

How to adjust and operate my equipment to optimize postures at my computer workstation

Safe work practices to reduce MSD hazards and discomforts

Use a MSD discomfort survey to help monitor MSD signs and symptoms

Use an Office MSD Hazard Identification Tool to help recognize and control MSD hazards at my workstation.
Who Should Attend?
Anyone who regularly works on a computer.
NOTE
This course provides the option of IHSA’s ergonomist providing a summary report of the results each workstation visit conducted during the training, including the hazards that were recognized, the hazards that were controlled by making adjustments to the workstation, and any recommendations. It will also help the workplace document any further actions taken evaluate the effectiveness of any changes made, and can be used as a tool to demonstrate how they are fulfilling their supervision responsibilities with respect to controlling for MSD hazards.
Prerequisites
There are no prerequisites for this course.
Participant Course Evaluation
At the end of the training, participants will have the opportunity to evaluate and provide comments about the training they received.
