Program Description

This program is primarily for electrical workers including supervisors/managers of workers that perform electrical work and/or tasks on or in proximity to electrical transmission or distribution systems. This training program is a thorough examination of the electrical definitions, the electrical rules including the application and interpretation of the rules and definitions.

The Electrical Utility Safety Rules are embedded in Occupational Health and Safety Regulations for both Construction and Industrial Programs this training is designed to provide attendees with knowledge in the application of the Electrical and Utility Safety Rules.

  • Intent and application of the Specific Rules
  • Industry issues and challenges
 

Who Should Attend?

Electrical workers that are expected or have been given authorization to work on or in proximity to electrical apparatus.

  • Powerline Technicians (Apprentices and Experienced Journeymen)
  • Utility Arborists/Tree Care Workers (Apprentices and Experienced Journeymen)
  • Electrical Workers/ Substation Electrical Workers/Street Light Workers/Under Ground Electrical Workers (Apprentices and Experienced Journeymen)
  • Contract Administrators (responsible to co-ordinate electrical work in proximity to electrical apparatus)
  • Electrical Supervisors/Managers/Engineers

This course is one day (7 hours) in length; the training can also be customized based on the customer needs.

 

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites for this course.

 

Personal Protective Equipment / What to Bring

Participants are required to bring a current copy of the Electrical Utilities Safety Rules (EUSR).

 

Learning Evaluation

Learners must achieve 80% on a written knowledge evaluation to successfully complete the course.

 

Participant Course Evaluation

At the end of the training, participants will have the opportunity to evaluate and provide comments about the training they received.
