Program Description

This IHSA course is hands-on

This hands-on program provides participants with the skills and knowledge required to ensure safe, proficient methods of working with electric power meters. The basic concepts of metering and associated hazards are discussed. This program will include one day of field work scenarios.

  • Interpretation of relevant regulations and the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Personal protective equipment
  • Handling and storage
  • Tools, equipment, and installation
  • Single phase services
  • Multimeter use and disconnect/reconnect procedures
 

Who Should Attend?

Line personnel who are required to perform this type of work and meter readers.

 

NOTE

Delivery of this program at your facility will require a suitable space to complete the practical portion of the program as well as the required equipment. Please check with your IHSA Consultant/Trainer for specific requirements.

 

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites for this course.

 

Personal Protective Equipment / What to Bring

Participants are required to bring their own CSA-approved head, eye, hand, and foot protection, Class 0 rubber gloves/covers, face shield, traffic vest, and AR/FR clothing. The participant will not be permitted to participate in the course if they do not bring the noted personal protective equipment and tools.

 

Learning Evaluation

Learners must achieve 70% on a written knowledge evaluation to successfully complete the course.

 

Participant Course Evaluation

At the end of the training, participants will have the opportunity to evaluate and provide comments about the training they received.
