Program Description

This IHSA course is hands-on

This program introduces individuals to conductor stringing methods (tension or conventional), safe work practices, proper operation of pullers and tensioners, and the necessary equipment to carry out a stringing operation in a safe manner.

  • Step and touch potentials
  • Proper set up of ground gradient mats and grounding techniques
  • Proper operation of tensioners and pullers
  • Work area protection
  • Communication and teamwork
 

Who Should Attend?

Personnel involved in conductor stringing operations in electric utility or telecommunications operations.

 

NOTE

Delivery of this program at your facility will require a suitable space to complete the practical portion of the program as well as the required equipment. Please check with your IHSA Consultant/Trainer for specific requirements.

 

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites for this course.

 

Learning Evaluation

Learners must achieve 70% on a written knowledge evaluation to successfully complete the course.

 

Participant Course Evaluation

At the end of the training, participants will have the opportunity to evaluate and provide comments about the training they received.

 

Personal Protective Equipment / What to Bring

Participants are required to bring their own CSA-approved head, foot, and eye protection, leather work gloves, Class #2 rubber gloves, and AR/FR clothes suitable for outside work. Attendees will not be permitted to participate in the course if they do not bring the noted personal protective equipment and tools.
