Program Description
This program covers various methods and equipment required when performing cable testing or fault locating. It also provides participants with an opportunity to use and compare the latest technology in cable testing and fault locating equipment.
Program Content

High/low-voltage potential testing instruments (e.g., Thumpers)

Types of tests—factory, acceptance, proof, maintenance

Cable locating

Methods of fault locating—primary, secondary, pre-locating, and pinpoint locating

Fault analysis

Field assignments: switching, cable locating, cable testing, and fault locating
Who Should Attend?
Personnel who perform this type of work (including supervisors).
NOTE
Delivery of this program at your facility will require a suitable space to complete the practical portion of the program as well as the required equipment. Please check with your IHSA Consultant/Trainer for specific requirements.
Prerequisites
There are no prerequisites for this course.
Personal Protective Equipment / What to bring
Participants are required to bring their own CSA-approved head, eye, and foot protection, rubber gloves and covers (Class#1 or #2), traffic vest, suitable clothing, and personal hand tools. The participant will not be permitted to participate in the course if they do not bring the noted personal protective equipment and tools.
Learning Evaluation
There is a final knowledge evaluation at the completion of the course.
Participant Course Evaluation
At the end of the training, participants will have the opportunity to evaluate and provide comments about the training they received.
