Program Description

Infrastructure Health & Safety Association

This program provides safe operating procedures and practices to workers who use brush chippers. The participant will not be permitted to participate in the course if they do not bring the noted personal protective equipment and tools.

  • Interpretation of relevant regulations and the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Protection of self and others
  • Job planning and working in a safe environment
  • Maintenance and operation of a chipper
  • Field practice
 

Who Should Attend?

Personnel who use a brush chipper and supervisors.

 

NOTE

Delivery of this program at your facility will require a suitable space to complete the practical portion of the program as well as the required equipment. Please check with your IHSA Consultant/Trainer for specific requirements.

 

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites for this course.

 

Personal Protective Equipment / What to Bring

Participants are required to bring their own CSA-approved head, eye/face shield and foot protection, chainsaw/leather work gloves, ear protection, and leg protection/chaps.

 

Learning Evaluation

Participants will complete pre- and post-tests and as well as hands-on maintenance and operations demonstrations.

 

Participant Course Evaluation

At the end of the training, participants will have the opportunity to evaluate and provide comments about the training they received.
