Program Description

This IHSA course is hands-on

Although the bare hand method may be limited in scope, this technique affords line maintenance personnel another option to consider for specific tasks. The program concentrates on the procedures and basic philosophy involved with this technique.

Who Should Attend?

Personnel performing this type of work (including supervisors).



Delivery of this program at your facility will require a suitable space to complete the practical portion of the program as well as the required equipment. Please check with your IHSA Consultant/Trainer for specific requirements.



There are no prerequisites for this program.


Personal Protective Equipment / What to Bring

Participants are required to bring their own CSA-approved head, eye, and foot protection, traffic vest, AR/FR rated clothing suitable for outside work, Class #2 rubber gloves, personal hand tools, leather work gloves, and full-body harness and lanyard. The participant will not be permitted to participate in the course if they do not bring the noted personal protective equipment and tools.


Learning Evaluation

Participants will need to complete a knowledge evaluation and receive a grade of at least 70% in order to successfully complete the course.


Participant Course Evaluation

At the end of the training, participants will have the opportunity to evaluate and provide comments about the training they received.


Registration fees for IHSA’s in-class training courses will be increasing. If you are registering for a course scheduled to take place prior to March 31, 2024, the price is unchanged. If you are registering for a course scheduled for April 1, 2024 or later, the price will be higher. Please see the tables below for more information.
