IHSA offers the following services, which Employers may find useful in supporting the development of an effective road safety program and or enhancing your workplace practices to prevent motor vehicle incidents.

1. CVOR Panel Review

Under the auspices of IHSA, the Panel will review appeals resulting from the Ministry of Transportation's CVOR accident monitoring system. The Panel's main purpose will be to make impartial CVOR accident point determinations from the facts submitted in an appeal. The Panel is an unbiased, neutral, highly-qualified third party. The Panel will maintain complete confidentiality. Click here to learn more.

2. CVOR Facility Audit

Using a Pre-MTO Facility Audit format, a qualified IHSA auditor will diagnose transportation compliance elements for remedial action. Depending on the size of your firm and the complexity of its work activities, the audit often takes three to four days. After the initial phase is complete, the auditor will compose written recommendations on how to improve your firm's existing program. Then, the auditor will schedule an in-person meeting with your firm's representatives to review the results. You will work together to develop an action plan. Subsequent mentoring and support is provided as required. Click here to learn more.

3. Fleet Safety Council

The Fleet Safety Council is an association of driver trainers and safety professionals working to promote safety within the transportation, transport, bus, and coach industries. The Council encourages the improvement of driver behavior through increased awareness and training. Working with Government agencies and private organizations, the Council strives for a uniform system of safety requirements for drivers in Ontario. Click here to learn more.

4. Transportation Safety Groups

Safety Groups is a program administered by the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB). Companies join a Safety Group to share best safety practices, pool their experience, and help one another with their prevention programs. Each member firm works to achieve specific objectives and improve safety performance.

In return, the WSIB treats each Safety Group as one large firm and applies an experience-rating formula to the group’s performance. If the group as a whole achieves a pre-set number of objectives, the WSIB rewards the group with rebates on top of the member firms’ usual experience-rating assessment. There are no penalties if the group does not succeed.

It does not matter whether your company is large or small, with good safety performance or poor performance. What matters is your commitment to improve. Click here to learn more.

5. Small Business Solutions

Small businesses represent 95% of all employers in Ontario, and they employ 28% of Ontario’s workers. Business owners know that running a business involves risks and costs; we know that a commitment to health, safety and fairness makes good business sense. IHSA has created the Small Business Solutions Topic page to help streamline many of the legislated requirements that are specific to a small business operating under the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
