IHSA will be transitioning from the current COR® Audit Tool (COR® 2015) to the COR® 2020 standard by 2025. The following implementation dates will allow us to reach that goal:

  • December 1, 2021 – All Initial Internal Audit submissions after this date must use the COR® 2020 audit tool
  • October 1, 2022 – All external audits after this date will be completed following the COR® 2020 audit tool

Organizations that are certified to COR® 2015 can transition at anytime by completing the COR® 2020 Transition Tool and submitting it to the IHSA for review.

ISO 45001:2018 – COR® 2020 Equivalency

Since COR® was introduced in Ontario, IHSA has been providing equivalency certificates to organizations certified to particular international health and safety management system standards recognized by IHSA. We now exclusively provide COR® 2020 equivalency to organizations certified to ISO 45001:2018.

To be granted ISO 45001 – COR 2020 equivalency, an organization must:

  • Complete and submit an ISO 45001 – COR® 2020 equivalency form
  • Submit its ISO 45001 certificate, which must include the insignia of an accreditation body that is recognized by the International Accreditation Forum (IAF)
  • Submit its most recent ISO 45001 audit report, which must demonstrate that representative Ontario-based operations were captured in the audit’s scope

COR® Associate Auditor Mentoring Audits

An Associate Auditor mentoring audit is the process IHSA uses as the last step for potential auditors to become an IHSA-accredited Associate Auditor.

Associate Auditor candidates have to successfully complete three mentoring audits. Once the candidate passes the mentoring audits, their names are added to the IHSA Associate Auditor list on the IHSA website.

Participating in a Mentoring Audit

IHSA is seeking firms willing to work with IHSA to assist auditors in the mentoring audit process. If you are interested in participating in a mentoring audit, please contact us via email at cor@ihsa.ca.
